Perfect Prom Maxie has curly golden blonde hair with blue eyes and coral pink lips.

 

Dazzling, dreamy and dressed for romance! Maxie is perfume scented and wears a shimmery, sparkling dress as she steps out for a magical night at the prom. And there's a pretty scented pendant for girls to wear! Fully articulated doll is 11 1/2" tall with a waist that turns, knees that bend and beautiful blond hair to comb and style. Maxie comes with a prom dress, panties, gloves, hair ornament, shoes, hair pick and earrings. (Hasbro description).

 

Perfect prom and Lookin' smart Maxie share the same body mold.

Makeup: Maxie has blue eyes with pink eyeshadow and coral pink lips.

Pink party dress with pink dotted sheer overlayer, aqua satin cummerbund, hem and strap ruffles.
Pink fingerless gloves with dotted sheer ruffles.
Pink underwear.

Light pink pearl thick-heeled bow pumps.
Pink pearlized 3-heart earrings.
Translucent pearlized pinkish-white graduated pearl necklace.
Aqua lace pouf on elastic loop.
Dark pink comb. (slightly Fluorescent?)
Dark hot pink plastic scented heart pendant on jade cord, “for you”. Smells roses? ("Maxie" written on the back.) Mine still smells good! ^^
Doll also came with a first year turquoise brochure, showing the first year line.

Jem Connection: Perfect Prom Maxie has many similarities with the third year Rockin' Romance Jem doll that was never released. (Though a few boxed dolls have surfaced over the years). We can wonder if the Maxie doll was based on Rockin' Romance Jem.

First the same theme, Romance. (Also keeping in mind that Maxie was marketed as "the doll with beautiful hair") Their front box reads:
- "Dazzling, dreamy and dressed for romance" (Perfect Prom Maxie)
- "Ready for romance with the most outrageous hair ever" (Rockin' Romance Jem)

Let's take a closer look:
Dolls are tanned (unusual for Jem), faces are makeups are very similar, even the eyebrows seem of the same color. Isn't it striking?! Maxie wears a pair of 3-heart earrings while Jem is wearing a pair of 3-bead earrings. Note that some of the Maxie Dance 'n romance fashions came with similar 3-bead earrings. The necklace is almost the same too. I always say similar rather than the same, anyone has both of them in hand to compare? ^^

The general look of the outfit reminds me a lot the Rockin' Romance dress too.

Hollywood Jem: In the 1988 French Hasbro toy fair catalog Hollywood Jem is listed with a perfume. Perfect Prom Maxie came with a scented necklace.
